Sonic Orcas

'Sonic Orcas,' is a long-form essay based on the spatial sound piece Re.flex.ion : Orca by friend, artist, and marine conservation activist, Alba Vega Mulet.

Recorded in Norway, listeners journey into the deep sonic world of orca whales, rendered audible within the human range of perception. At the core of the piece, the listening makes tangible the violent displacement of marine mammals from their habitat, re-enacting the experience of trauma the orca undergoes while in captivity—in contrast to the freedom of communication in their native oceanic environment.
